HANOI – A helicopter crashed in northern Vietnam yesterday, killing two people and leaving three others missing, Xinhua quoted a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) report.
The Bell 505 helicopter owned by the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company crashed with a pilot and four tourists aboard. They were taking an aerial tour of the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh.
Rescue teams comprising border guards and military personnel found two bodies and pieces of fuselage.
The helicopter took off at 4.56pm local time and lost radio signal at 5.15pm.
The rescue teams are still searching for the three missing people, VNA quoted the Vietnamese Defence Ministry as saying last night.
Teams from relevant agencies are carrying out search operations at sea for the victims.
The five-seat helicopter was often used for tourism purposes, according to Vietnamese media. – Bernama, April 6, 2023
