TOKYO – Japan started releasing nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean today, reported Xinhua.
According to TEPCO, the plant’s operator, the water discharge commenced at around 1pm local time (12pm Malaysia time), while concerns and opposition persisted among local fishermen – as well as in neighbouring and Pacific island countries.
