KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia continued to trade lower in the afternoon with the key index weighed down by index-linked glove makers amid the Covid-19 vaccine rollout.
At 3.15pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI shed 6.13 points to 1,637.77.
The overall market breadth skewed towards negative territory with losers outpacing gainers 601 to 490, while 466 counters were unchanged, 571 untraded and 22 others suspended.
Volume stood at 6.51 billion units worth RM2.81 billion.
Glove makers Hartalega slid 56 sen to RM11.90, Top Glove declined 19 sen to RM6.07, and Supermax weakened 31 sen to RM6.08.
Other heavyweights, Maybank rose 4 sen to RM8.58, Petronas Chemicals added 1 sen to RM7.50, IHH Healthcare gained 2 sen to RM5.74, CIMB added 3 sen to RM4.33 while Hong Leong Bank and Maxis were flat at RM18.60 and RM5.07, respectively.
Among the actives, Techna-X rose 3.5 sen to 17.5 sen, Mestron increased one sen to 22.5 sen, Puncak Niaga expanded 6.5 sen to 46.5 sen, Sarawak Cable soared 22 sen to 56.5 sen, AT Systematization was flat at 20 sen and Iris Corp edged down half-a-sen to 43.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 35.07 points to 11,812.94, the FBMT 100 Index fell 37.27 points to 11,563.38, the FBM 70 went down 25.60 points to 15,171.89, the FBM Emas Shariah Index gave up 63.79 points to 13,191.96 and the FBM ACE strengthened 40.85 points to 10,720.64.
The Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.13 of-a-point to 177.28, the Financial Services Index increased 34.67 points to 15,462.96 and the Plantation Index shredded 13.69 points to 7,417.32. – Bernama, December 29, 2020
