MALAYSIA’S largest bank, Malayan Banking Berhad, will relocate its headquarters to the landmark Merdeka 118 from May 6, marking a significant corporate shift within the capital’s financial district.

The group said it will move from its long-standing base at Menara Maybank on Jalan Tun Perak to a new office occupying 33 floors within the tower, accommodating approximately 7,000 employees.

The relocation is expected to enhance operational efficiency and accessibility, with the new premises featuring a dedicated entrance designed to improve access for staff, customers and visitors.

Several key subsidiaries, including Maybank Islamic Berhad and Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, will also transition to the new headquarters in phases.

The bank confirmed its new registered address will be Level 70, Menara Merdeka 118, Presint Merdeka 118, 50118 Kuala Lumpur.

Despite the move, Maybank said its main branch at Menara Maybank will remain fully operational for the time being, with no immediate disruption to customer services. - April 21, 2026
