KUALA LUMPUR – UEM Edgenta Bhd has been included in the FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) Emas Index effective today, following the recent FBM Index Series Semi-Annual Review.

The FBM Emas Index comprises constituents of the FBM Top 100 Index and FBM Small Cap Index.

In a statement today, UEM Edgenta said its inclusion in the FBM Emas Index was based on its ability to meet index requirements of having over 15% free-float shares and liquidity of more than 0.05% of the free float for at least 10 of the past 12 months.

With this, it will also be included in four thematic indices, namely the FBM MidS Cap Shariah Index, FBM Emas Shariah Index, FBM Small Cap Index and FBM MidS Cap Index.

“We are encouraged by our investors’ greater interest, which reflects our growing market presence and investment proposition as we continue to drive long-term sustainable returns for our stakeholders,” said managing director and CEO Syahrunizam Samsudin.

The index inclusion brings UEM Edgenta one step closer to its aim of being part of the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index, where the selection criteria focus mainly on environmental, social and governance (ESG) areas.

Constituents of the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index will be reviewed in December.

“Guided by our Edgenta of the Future 2025 vision, we have made it a priority to play a more positive role in driving our ESG agenda,” said Syahrunizam.

“Our continuous efforts in these areas will ensure that our sustainability values are embraced throughout our businesses, and that they impact the community in a meaningful way.” – Bernama, June 21, 2021
