KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) today announced the appointment of Dr Daroyah Alwi as its first chairwoman, replacing Raja Datuk Idris Raja Kamarudin, effective October 1, 2021.
Chief executive officer Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusoff said the appointment marked a significant milestone as this is the MRC’s first time being led by a woman since its establishment 20 years ago.
“MRC’s management team extends its warmest welcome to Daroyah and is confident that with her vast experience, she will be able to provide the best contribution to further improve the performance of MRC towards greater success.
“MRC is also immensely appreciative and grateful towards former chairman Raja Idris Raja Kamarudin, for his valuable contribution and insights throughout his tenure at MRC,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Daroyah has expressed her commitment to develop and strengthen the MRC for the local rubber industry as well as the international stage. – Bernama, October 12, 2021
