KUALA LUMPUR – All Maybank branches that have been affected by the recent floods in parts of the country have now reopened and are fully operational, said a spokesman who requested anonymity.

Speaking to The Vibes, the Maybank representative said all operations in flood-hit areas, including the financial institution’s self-service terminals (SSTs) such as automatic teller machines and cash and cheque deposit machines, have returned to normal.

“Nonetheless, we remain prepared for any further disruptions due to floods. For any branch that is closed, there will be alternate branches or operating SSTs in the vicinity to serve our customers,” the spokesman said.

The individual said the bank also constantly updates its operating branch list on its Maybank2u website to ensure that customers are well informed of closed branches, as well as to list alternate branches they can visit instead.

The Vibes was told that customers who have made branch appointments online via Maybank EzyQ will be contacted and directed to the nearest alternate branch.

The bank will continue to encourage their customers to make non-cash transactions through its digital platforms such as Maybank2u and the MAE app, in order to prioritise their safety and convenience.

Maybank said it is offering flood relief assistance to all individual customers, as well as SME and non-retail customers, in the form of loan and financing repayment deferments, reduction of monthly repayments, or extension of loan or financing tenures, among others.

“In addition, we will waive fees for the replacement of debit cards, ATM cards, and lost or damaged cheque books during the floods,” the spokesman said.

“The primary aim of our initiatives is to provide some relief to our customers as they rebuild their lives during these challenging times.”
