Bursa almost flat at mid-afternoon

KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia was almost flat at mid-afternoon today with some bargain hunting, led by healthcare, consumer products as well as services-linked counters.

Among healthcare stocks, Top Glove rose 7 sen to RM1.92 and Hartalega increased 13 sen to RM4.86, while under consumer products and services, Genting Malaysia climbed 4 sen to RM2.98 and Genting added 5 sen to RM4.68.

These counters contributed 2.56 points to the composite index.

At 3.03pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI rose 0.42 of-a-point to 1,583.84 from 1,583.42 at yesterday’s close.

The index opened 2.13 points higher at 1,585.55 and moved between 1,582.66 and 1,591.40.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 474 to 406, while 398 counters were unchanged, 1,014 untraded and 88 others suspended.

Total turnover stood at 2.16 billion units worth RM1.29 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank gained 2 sen to RM8.92, Public Bank was flat at RM4.63, while Petronas Chemicals and CIMB fell 2 sen each to RM9.56 and RM5.30, and IHH Healthcare dropped 3 sen to RM6.16.

Of the actives, Metronic inched up 1 sen to 2.5 sen, MyEg gained 4 sen to RM1.02, while Sapura and Impiana Hotel were flat, both at 4 sen.

On the index board, FBM 70 increased by 134.77 points to 13,760.22, FBM Emas Index was 26.54 points higher at 11,345.42, FBM Emas Shariah Index ticked up 26.02 points to 11,920.35, FBMT 100 Index accumulated 27.61 points to 11,029.83 and FBM ACE expanded 3.65 points to 5,562.04. 

Sector-wise, the Industrial Products and Services Index inched down 0.25 of-a-point to 203.90 and the Plantation Index weakened 19.84 points to 7,967.88, while the Financial Services Index jumped 21.17 points to 16,688.52. – Bernama, March 30, 2022
