KUALA LUMPUR – Petronas joins 1,802 other entities which have signed the Declaration of Corruption Free Pledge with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).
The pledge, led by its CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz yesterday was taken with the senior management at its headquarters at the Petronas Twin Towers here, and witnessed by chairman Tan Sri Bakke Salleh and MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki.
“I believe the corruption-free pledge does not stop at this event as I see that Petronas has realised its anti-corruption initiatives with total compliance with the directions of the government, evidenced by the setting up of the Integrity and Governance Unit (IGU) and the Organisational Anti Corruption Plan,” said Azam.
He added that these initiatives are important elements to ensure that an organisation has implemented adequate measures in line with the legal requirements of corporate liability.
The pledge was initiated in 2018 and places emphasis on the oath voluntarily taken by an organisation’s leadership and members to hold each of them accountable for carrying out their duties with integrity, as well as to hinder them from engaging in any corrupt misconduct throughout their tenure.
So far, 1,802 entities, including corporations, NGOs, government agencies, government-linked companies and ministries have signed the pledge that underscores their commitment to work towards a progressive, corruption-free nation. – The Vibes, August 6, 2022
