KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is developing a building designed to be a one-stop centre for aspiring entrepreneurs under its programmes.
Chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas said that in extending its commitment to promote the state’s socio-economic growth, PKNS will continue to support efforts to retain Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s top gross domestic product (GDP) contributor.
“PKNS has nurtured over 41,000 business owners through various programmes over the last 27 years, and is committed to support the state’s social and economic growth with a holistic recovery plan,” he said today in conjunction with PKNS’ 58th anniversary.
To date, PKNS has 13 subsidiaries, spanning the property and development, real estate, construction and engineering, wholesale and retail, educational services as well as healthcare and recreational sectors.
Besides that, with 2,000 clinics under its subsidiary Selgate Corporation, PKNS aims to develop more healthcare facilities and explore merging and acquisition opportunities with existing healthcare providers.
It also aims to probe more strategic partnerships in investment and equity shareholding, as well as management services and administration of corporate employee healthcare benefits in its efforts to provide affordable quality healthcare.
Mahmud said PKNS plans to develop assisted living facilities, beginning with the introduction of its Selcare Hospital, which will focus on catering to local residents’ and targeted communities’ needs, at the same time creating value for the state’s economy.
From dedicated care facilities to a wide range of social and recreational amenities and activities, PKNS aims to promote active and healthy lifestyles among residents of all ages.
“PKNS remains confident in its well-diversified strategic recovery plan. The biggest contributor to our recovery plan lies within our well-diversified holistic approach.
“Aside from our core focus in affordable housing, PKNS is also aggressively strengthening our presence in a variety of other sectors,” Mahmud said.
Selangor showed signs of revival in 2021, registering a 5% GDP increment compared to 2020.
The state remains as the largest economy in Malaysia, with a value-added of RM343.5 billion, compared to RM327.1 billion in the previous year. – Bernama, August 18, 2022
