KUALA LUMPUR – Sooka today launches its first Original series – 'Love in Lockdown' – starring Siti Saleha, Julia Farhana Marin, Shah Iskandar, Sara Mack Lubis, and Bella Rahim. 'Love in Lockdown' will be available on Sooka starting February 20.

Since its inception in June 2021, Sooka aims to be the go-to entertainment streaming service for Malaysians, with the goal to provide the best local entertainment for millennials. The ambition is closing to realisation with the launch of Sooka’s first Originals series, 'Love in Lockdown'.

Sooka continues its aim to produce more hyper-local content that resonate with mobile-first millennial audience.

“Sooka's main differentiator is its capability to deliver live global and local sports events, and integrating local favourites suited to Malaysians’ viewing preferences such as local drama series and movies, and live reality entertainment programmes.

"With a strong pipeline of Sooka Originals slated to launch this year, audiences will be able to enjoy greater content offering from Sooka, tastefully curated with more local flavours that cater exclusively to Malaysians’ preferences, views, and touchpoints,” said Emarina Mohd Kamal, head of programming at Sooka.

Kickstarting a strong year of Sooka Originals

'Love in Lockdown', directed by Mai Fernandez, tells the story of personal and family adversities at the face of the pandemic. Produced through a collaborative effort with a local production house, Pho Sumpro, the series will run for 10 episodes exclusively on Sooka.

“The launch of Love in Lockdown kickstarts Sooka’s strong pipeline of 20 Originals throughout 2022 – produced through our creative collaborations with notable, local production houses and content creators, such as Pho Sumpro, Thinker Studios, Petra Vision Works, KL Motion Pictures Co, KRU, Michael Ang, and more,” said Emarina.

“The stories we want to tell through Sooka Originals stems from our brand aspiration to be bold, visionary, and different. What better way to turn this into reality than working with strong local content partners who are excellent storytellers, and who understand what audiences look for in great, local content,” added Emarina.

Love in Lockdown is exclusively available on Sooka. Audiences will be able to watch the first two episodes for free starting February 20 and catch the rest of the episodes by subscribing to Sooka's VIP Entertainment Plan (RP: RM15.90/month), or VIP+Sports Plan (RP: RM41.90/month).
