THIS picture was taken during the recent L'Étape Malaysia 2022 bike race in Desaru, Johor. The competition was comprised of riders of various levels, from amateurs to professionals.

To get this picture, you need to have a thorough preparation and planning as well as have the skills to operate the camera and understand the function of each button on the camera. The technique used here is known as ‘Panning’. This technique is an interesting and creative way of recording the movement of the subject’s action in each picture, as opposed to a static image that does not convey the feeling of movement.

The difficulty of taking this picture is that I have to take shots repeatedly and quickly until I get the best shot. This is because ‘Panning’ is quite difficult to get the desired shot and requires patience.

In the end, I was very pleased with the result because it captured the moment that showed the action of the bicycles in motion, the movement at the heart of the sport. – The Vibes, June 12, 2022
