WARNER Bros Pictures has confirmed that actor and celebrity, Sean Lee – aka “SeanLJE” – has joined the voiceover cast for the upcoming movie 'DC League of Super-Pets', premiering in Malaysian cinemas on July 28.

Lee voices Waffles, a Boston Terrier living in Metropolis. He was elated when the opportunity came knocking from the Hollywood studio. Lee is known for his roles in the drama series 'The Hotel', 'Romantika 4 Hari 3 Malam' and 'Jujurlah Nikahi Aku'.

He said, "blessed that my childhood dream of voicing a character in an animated film came true and so honoured to represent Malaysia in a special edit of an international film!"

Although just a small “kele-feh” part, Lee was so excited about this role that he created his own backstory for the character.

A Subang boy himself, the host-turned-actor envisioned Waffles to be a brutally honest dog from Subang Jaya, Malaysia, whose owner moved to Metropolis as an expatriate.

Taking this backstory very seriously, Waffles has a rather strong Malaysian accent.

This is the first time that Warner Bros has selected a Malaysian cast member for such a localised part and audiences watching will undoubtedly appreciate the humorous local touch.

In 'DC League of Super-Pets', Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side.

When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack – Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel – to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

In anticipation of the movie, lovers of pet-themed cartoons can tune into Boomerang (Astro Ch 619) on weekends from 2pm and stream them on HBO Go for plenty more entertainment.

The specially curated selection called “Pets Unite” features Krypto, Scooby-Doo, Tom and Jerry, Sylvester and Tweety and a heap of others. – The Vibes, July 13, 2022
