A LOS Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, must schedule a deposition by August 12.
He had previously been served notices to sit for a deposition by Brtiney's lawyer Mathew Rosengart but had not made any appearances, reported the Daily Mail.
Jamie, 70, had headed Britney's conservatorship for 13 years. His lawyer, Alex Weingarten, had last month called Britney, 40, to be deposed over her social media posts which
made "incendiary allegations of various factual matters".
But Rosengart said on Wednesday in court that this was "retaliatory" and "abusing the legal process". This is because Jamie was under investigation for his handling of funds
and alleged surveillance of the pop star.
Britney's lawyer also said as the singer was living under the conservatorship, she thus could not testify about it. He added that she would be traumatised to face further
questions.

Rosengart put forth that Jamie's legal team should either depose Jamie or Britney's ex-manager Lou Taylor for details on the arrangement.
The judge ordered both sides to file briefs by July 22 as to whether Britney should sit for a deposition. The court will review the issue in a hearing on July 27.
The court also heard Jamie's request for Britney's estate to cover his legal fees, following the termination of his conservatorship last year. He had hired Weingarten at an hourly
rate of US$1,200 after being dropped by his former legal team.
Rosengart had said Jamie's request was 'not only legally meritless' but – considering the circumstances – an 'abomination', in an interview with Page Six.
'Mr Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions more, all from Britney’s work and hard-earned money,' he added. – The Vibes, July 15, 2022
