LOCAL high flying action movie Air Force The Movie: Selagi Bernyawa, collected a healthy RM8 million in its first four days from showings in South Korea, Japan & Taiwan.

Representatives of the film are happy with this success, believing that this shows that international markets can enjoy local films if they are of high quality.

Directed by Zulkarnain Azhar & Frank See, the film was released in time for Merdeka Day, hoping to harness the patriotic feelings that are especially strong during this time of year.

Starring the likes of Datuk Adi Putra (Mat Kilau), Aiman Hakim Ridza, Nas-T, Sara Ali, Pablo Amirul, Johan As'ari, Luqman Hafidz, and many more, the film tells the story of a special forces unit whose plane is shot down in a hostile country and have to evade capture while the titular Air Force puts together a rescue mission.

The Vibes’s review said:

The professionalism of the armed forces is being clearly displayed, especially later on when the rescue mission is underway. It’s really something seeing all the different planes and units operating as one.

The story itself is very predictable, which is not necessarily a bad thing – don’t reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to.

Air Force The Movie was made in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysian Air Force, as well as Multimedia Entertainment, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Astro, FXHammer Films and SixFun Media. – The Vibes, August 29, 2022
