"IT’S not a comeback since we’ve never left,” raps Jennie, one of the members of Blackpink, in their latest music video, Shut Down, which is one of eight tracks in their album ‘Born Pink.’

The eight-track album adds up to 25 minutes and is their first new release in two years. ‘Born Pink’ is their second studio album and has already sold over 2 million records in the first week of pre-orders.

Their music video, Shut Down, has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube since it premiered five hours ago. The album features the previously released ‘Ready For Love’, as well as five new tracks, including ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’ with lyrics co-written by Blackpink members Jisoo and Rosé.

Reflecting on the production process for the album, Jennie commented, “Like always, working with my members was fun. Starting with our concept meetings to our final recordings, new ideas were constantly coming out.

"We were able to look more closely at each other’s thoughts and emotions and bring out something from deep inside. As we gave and took feedback to and from each other, we shined the most when the four of us were together.”

“More than anything, it was fun and reassuring to work with the YG producers who know us well. I feel incredibly satisfied because we filled [the album] with creations made while sharing musical synergy,” she added.

Lisa then shared the group’s first reaction to their title track ‘Shut Down’, recalling, “We gathered in the recording studio altogether and listened to the demo. When the intro came out, all the members were speechless and just looked at each other.”

Laughing, she added, “Through just our eyes, we were telling each other, ‘This is the title track!’ While listening, I naturally started to imagine the performance. That is how well Blackpink was captured, and I was confident that it was a song Blackpink could express well.”

‘Born Pink’ will be the focus of Blackpink’s upcoming world tour. It will kickstart in Seoul, South Korea, next month with concert dates in dozens of cities around the world. – The Vibes, September 16, 2022
