ON what would have been Tan Sri P. Ramlee's 94th birthday, an exhibition has been unveiled at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) with the hopes of introducing the Malaysian icon to international tourists and visitors.
The exclusive exhibition with the theme 'Hanya Dikau' (Only You) has been organised by the National Archives of Malaysia in partnership with Malaysia Airport Bhd. It will run for three months and is being held on Level 5, Terminal 1, KLIA.
The exhibition showcases P. Ramlee's works through visual concepts such as Sekolah Umum Buta Huruf, Kedai Musik Abdul Wahub, Tandas Pangkah, and Studio Jalan Ampas, all of which were inspired by his films.
The aim of the pop-up is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the passing of P. Ramlee on May 29. It will also promote awareness of his significant contributions to the creative industry in Malaysia.

Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said KLIA is a strategic location for the exclusive exhibition of the great artist P. Ramlee. It will showcase the country's art icon and his legacy to overseas visitors.
He regarded the late P. Ramlee's films as a treasure trove, with messages of harmony, unity, togetherness, and mutual respect among races.
“Every scene of P. Ramlee’s films contains many positive values. It is in line with the government’s desire to produce a Madani society that is united and has mutual respect, irrespective of race, culture and religion,” he said after launching the exhibition here yesterday.
P. Ramlee was born Teuku Zakaria Teuku Nyak Putih, and began his acting career in Singapore in 1948, before later moving to work in Malaysia in 1964 until his untimely death in 1973.
