THE Daytime Emmy award-winning series hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and Jada's mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris has been pulled off the air.

Red Table Talk has been cancelled by Meta, it was announced on Wednesday.

Variety had before reported that Meta is shutting down its Facebook Watch original programmes. Red Table Talk was the last remaining show to be cancelled, according to the Daily Mail.

Red Table Talk posted a statement on Instagram over the show's demise on Facebook watch. But it also said Red Table Talk will likely find a new home.

Guests on the show included Jada's husband Will Smith as well as Sandra Bullock, Demi Moore and Jordyn Woods.

The Red Table Talk statement read: “We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch and we are sorry to see the entire team disband. We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come.”

It was also shared: “We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home and we'll see you soon.” The post closed with a white heart emoji.

The show was produced by Jada and Will Smith’s production company, Westbrook Studios.

Changes are afoot at Facebook with the head of development and programming at Meta, Mina Lefevre, leaving the company. There was also a massive layoff affecting more than 20,000 workers.

It had already scaled back its original programming efforts with scripted series such as Elizabeth Olsen-fronted Sorry For Your Loss and Sacred Lies.

Tech companies are focusing now on user-generated content. Meta is seen to be emulating Google, whose YouTube division was shut down. – The Vibes, April 28, 2023
