WORLD Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director and alumnus of Universiti Malaya Dato’ Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim has been named an Elite Fellow of its Faculty of Business and Economics, recognising his influence in global trade and the business events industry.

Irmohizam has been appointed an Elite Fellow of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Universiti Malaya, a role that underscores both his academic roots and his significant contributions to Malaysia’s business and global events sector.

In congratulating him, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) stated: “Dato’ Sri Dr Haji Irmohizam bin Ibrahim will contribute his wealth of experience and knowledge to nurture a deeper understanding among the younger generation of the importance of the travellers’ economy, global networks, and the strategic role of the business events industry in national development.

“He will also bring forward innovative ideas to the Faculty of Business and Economics.”

Irmohizam, a former student of the faculty, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Universiti Malaya. He now leads WTCKL and plays an active role in the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), a network of 345 World Trade Centers spanning over 90 countries.

His appointment as Elite Fellow reflects a broader recognition of the business events sector as a key pillar in Malaysia’s economic trajectory, especially as the country looks ahead to the 13th Malaysia Plan.

WTCKL added: “May the business events industry be further elevated as one of the pillars of Malaysia’s future economy, especially in the lead-up to the upcoming 13th Malaysia Plan.” - June 17, 2025
