KUALA LUMPUR – The reopening of schools last week was a relief to parents after more than a year of their children being homebound.

However, not all parents could drop their children off at school, especially those who were stricken by the massive floods that wreaked havoc throughout the Klang Valley.

The floods that hit Selangor saw Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam losing an incalculable amount of equipment and school supplies in the blink of an eye.

Despite the carnage and despair, the reopening of schools had been long-awaited by students after they were forced to switch to home-based learning (PdPR) by the pandemic, preventing them from seeing their friends.

Their attendance in school, despite not being able to wear full school uniforms, proved uplifting to spirits, with everyone being able to meet each other face-to-face.
