THE developer of The Haven in Ipoh is seeking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s help to resolve a long-standing issue with some parcel unit owners.
Describing the issue as a bizarre circumstance, the project's chief executive officer, Peter Chan, shared that the issue has unnecessarily grown into a controversy.
He has therefore reached out to the officers of Anwar, who is also the Tambun MP, where the project is situated, some 12 km from the state capital.
"We have written to the honourable prime minister, and we hope that some attention can be accorded to us."
Chan said that he is not seeking for Anwar to take sides but to help establish the truth and resolve an unnecessary conflict which has plagued the project since 2020.
The project's stature as a major player in the state's tourism scene, which has been established for over 19 years, should be taken into account
However, Chan said that the issues confronting him would not deter him from promoting Perak as a preferred tourist destination for the "Visit Malaysia Year 2026" campaign.
The Haven has catered to 170,000 foreign tourists from over 120 countries since it commenced in 2014.
The issue started with a dispute within the Joint Management Body (JMB) between certain individual owners and the majority of the JMB.
Chan said that the case is bizarre because such cases nationwide are, by convention, decided by the majority of strata owners.
But here, it has instead gone to the court with no clarity or outcome, Chan claimed.
If left unattended, he claims the issue can, for the first time in history, alter how the country's management of high-rise living is conducted. - January 25, 2026.
