AFTER three years of planning, design and production, the Genesis automotive brand (the luxury division of Hyundai) is giving its Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class rivals a fresh G70 sedan for the 2021 model year. This Genesis G70 sedan shares some of the details from its larger G80 sibling and comes with three engine variants.
For the reviving economies in the European premium auto market, this Korean brand will take at least another year or so to arrive as the corona pandemic is likely to play a role in the shipping, launch and marketing delay.
The Genesis debuted this new G70, which updates the award-winning sport sedan with a fresh design and enriched technology. These changes further align G70's visual signature with the latest iteration of the brand's "Athletic Elegance" design language, as seen on the all-new G80 sedan and first-ever GV80 SUV.

This Genesis G70 benefits from the incorporation of the brand's latest advanced-safety and driver-assistance technology, further elevating the ownership experience which Malaysians will not get to experience.
Up front, the new Genesis G70 gains the brand's signature Quad Lamps, featuring super thin LED lamps which stretch outward like the wings of the Genesis emblem. The low-slung Crest Grille evokes an aggressive stance that emphasizes the G70's performance character.
Viewed from the side, the new G70's profile retains the familiar long hood and short front overhang, communicating its agility even when parked. Four all-new wheel designs further enhance its presence, and a new air extractor positioned aft of the front wheel designed to optimize airflow efficiency. The Parabolic Line adds an elegant touch over the muscular surfaces.

At the rear, Genesis' signature Quad Lamp taillights and prominent Genesis text over the clean of the surface of the boot lid shows the unmistakable Genesis identity. Dual exhaust tips and a body-colored diffuser add the finishing touches to this Korean premium sport sedan.
The 4.69-meter-long, 1.85-meter-wide and 1.40-meter-high Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class competitor will have no luck in securing a loyal following here in Malaysia as Malaysians in this price segment are only interested in European badges due to their long-term branding program to convince Malaysians they are superior in all areas.
Genesis engineers have loaded up this sports sedan with technology, features and comfort that supersedes the German rivals in so many ways.

In the interior, you immediately notice that the cockpit is inclined towards the driver. Genesis engineers have used optical technology for the instrument cluster which is now larger than before, and the center console also tilts towards the driver. A free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen with voice control as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity is housed on it. The interior looks classy and classically modern. Navigation updates are now possible over-the-air. Improved acoustic glass around the front occupants is said to improve the noise level and a dash-cam is standard equipment.
When it comes to engines, this latest G70 engine range starts with a 202hp, 441 Newton meters strong 2.2-liter turbo-diesel. A two-liter, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 255hp and a maximum of 353Newton meters which is a step above it and there is the 3.3-liter V6 with 373hp delivering a maximum torque of 510 Newton meters to challenge the performance versions from its rivals. – The Vibes, October 27, 2020
