IF you are a romantic but a poor organiser, the weeks may have passed swiftly by, for you to only realise that Valentine’s Day is, in fact, the day after tomorrow. Whether or not you feel your love need not be celebrated on just one day a year, here are a selection of things you can do for your significant other (or even best friends) in keeping with the Valentine's vibe.

Food is always a great idea

The sheer amount of cafes that have opened up and been reviewed by perky TikTokers will give you some idea of what’s out there, and the mood-setting environments that will make your Instagram really pop. You could start your day of romance by cafe-hopping, getting some delicious brunch, snapping pretty pictures and showing off on your socials.

ALLO by The Owls Cafe

ALLO is located in the Ami Suites at Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur and they are open daily from 9am to 5pm. Boasting a classy, warm interior complete with tempting carbo-rich selections such as waffles, pasta and sandwiches, this could be a great start to your day.

Christine’s Bakery

With locations in Sunway Geo Avenue, Publika Shopping Gallery and the newly opened Pavilion Bukit Jalil, this cafe has been making the rounds on social media due to their scrumptious dishes, beautiful tarts and amazing atmosphere. With tons of diners and influencers set on posing with their array of chosen dishes, including bagels, pastries and their signature sourdough pizza, this place is definitely worth a try.

Old-fashioned fun

Rollerwa

Have you ever roller-skated? This Korean inspired roller skating rink in District K, 1 Utama, has caught the attention of many since its opening last December. With its unique interior (disco balls and neon lights galore) and cheap admission rates, it's no wonder why!

Friend groups, families and couples have been flocking to Rollerwa to enjoy the retro fun. The entrance fee is RM12 while the rental fee for 2 hours (inclusive with the skate rink, skate shoes and safety gear) is RM38 for adults. They are open from 10am to 10pm.

Suafotostudio

You can live out your supermodel fantasy here, with a studio and a professional camera all to yourself. Posing for photoshoots. Living that celebrity dream. What more could you want?

Take stunning, professional-like photos with your loved one(s) at Suafotostudio and you’ll be sure to make a lot of memories. It's located at Wangsa Maju, KL and reservations are required. You can find more information on their Instagram page (and in their highlights).

Nocturnal romance

Marini’s on 57

Dining at Marini’s on 57 is like dining in the sky. It boasts breathtaking views overlooking the sparkling skyline of Kuala Lumpur.

Located on level 57, Menara 3 of Persiaran KLCC, there is an Italian restaurant, a steakhouse, rooftop bar and a whiskey lounge for you to choose from. Being here at night amidst the twinkling city skyline is a wonderful setting for the most unforgettable Valentine’s night for you and your partner.

Like many fine dining establishments, there is a specially curated menu for Valentine’s Day, so if you have the money to spend, this is definitely a place you will want to consider.

You can make your reservations here.

Troika Sky Dining

Troika Sky Dining – with a glimmering view of the city centre – hosts multiple dining experiences, Fuego, Mr Chew’s Chino Latino Bar, Cantaloupe, Strato and Brasserie Fritz. A variety for you to choose based on your own personal taste.

Be sure to make your reservations here.

Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday, why not start your celebration early by taking a staycation trip elsewhere the day before?

The Hooton Retreat

Located at Jelebu, Negri Sembilan, about less than two hours away from Kuala Lumpur by car, the Hooton Retreat is the perfect place for some relaxation, rejuvenation and possibly, romance.

There are many different types of rooms to choose from, from villas to dome shaped rooms. These are all beautifully designed and decorated, and you’ll wake up in lush greenery, lending your luxurious escape some tranquillity. – The Vibes, February 12, 2022
