SEVERAL healthcare providers came together recently to celebrate World Patient Safety Day, which is celebrated around the world on September 17.

The Ara Damansara Medical Centre, KPJ Hospitals in Shah Alam and Damansara as well as Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Temerloh, led their communities and patients to organise patient safety-driven programmes.

These included patient-sharing sessions and showcasing the latest innovations in medical devices.

The World Health Organisation continues to champion both patient engagement and empowerment. This year, their slogan is “Engaging patients for patient safety”.

The key to this success is hearing from patients and providers on how to improve systems and processes to deliver healthcare to a more discerning audience.

Tools such as digital innovations like AI are quickly becoming integral to understanding and fulfilling the needs of patients.

Private healthcare organisations in Malaysia now take the lead in promoting engagement between providers and patients.

This helps the health ministry reach both spectrums of healthcare delivery and ensures there is full-rounded empowerment of patients. – The Vibes, September 27, 2023
