AFTER several international schools on the peninsula received bomb threats yesterday, students and staff from a secondary school in Kuching were evacuated today following a similar threat via email.
Police, including personnel from the bomb squad and Special Branch, are at SMK Kuching High now.
Students and staff were evacuated about 11.30am.
It is learnt that the school principal had allegedly received a message earlier that there was a threat to their safety.
Parents were also asked to pick up their children from school as soon as possible.
Yesterday, several schools within the International Schools Partnership (ISP) network had apparently received threats.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the investigations are being conducted under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of online facilities.
He said the police received a total of 19 reports from government, private, and international schools on the threats.
The threats were made from two email accounts under the user ID “Taktstorer” using email provider beeble.com’s platform.
Razarudin said “Taktstorer” is a German word used to refer to a “disruptor of peace”. – The Vibes, November 22, 2023
