AN ORGANISATION called Jew Hate Database has hailed Warner Music Malaysia’s termination of its contract with Malaysian singer Kaka Azraff over her controversial statements, Getaran reports.
"Malaysian news are reporting that Kaka Azraff has been dropped by Warner Music Malaysia," the group said on Instagram, calling her "a Jew hater and singer."
"In her free time she harasses other influencers while advocating for the eradication of all Jews and expressing sentiment that Hitler should've killed all Jews, a well-known anti-Jew rhetoric."
The recording company announced the end of the deal on Instagram, where it also posted screenshots of local media reports on the controversy.
Many social media users thanked the company for the decision in the comments section.
The singer of the hit "Gila" went viral recently over her comment that “Hitler should have killed all Israel (sic)” while talking about the Gaza war.
The label said Kaka’s contract was terminated because of her use of expletives in her statements.
“Kaka is a very talented artiste, but unfortunately, we have to part ways with her due to the particular language used in her direct messages that have been displayed online,” the company was quoted as saying.
“We stand firm in fighting for our artists’ right to freedom of speech. However, anyone who acts in the way she has, without taking into account (the sensitivities of) race or religion, will be met with the same action.”
Warner Music Malaysia issued the statement hours before a press conference by Kaka and her lawyers on December 6.
The trouble began when the singer responded to an Instagram story from Australian pro-Israel influencer and actor, Nathaniel Buzolic.
“Israel was the one who started (the war). Israel steals their land and now they act like they’re the victim? Wtf. Sick people. Hitler should have killed all Israel!” Kaka wrote.
Kaka had insisted at the press conference on December 6 that she had up till then not received a reasonable explanation from her label regarding the termination of her contract.
“In the contract termination notice, they did not give a clear reason for the contract termination,” she said.
“As a recording artiste and among the longest serving at Warner Music Malaysia, I believe I should be given the official reason that led to the termination of this contract.
“I am not upset about the termination of the contract because I believe that is God’s providence.
She said she is neither anti-Semitic nor racist.
“I was only expressing my personal opinion to the individual, not commenting publicly,” she said.
“I admit maybe my choice of words was a bit harsh, but at the time I was very angry. Maybe I should have chosen more polite words. However, I don’t want to dwell on what is now behind me.” – The Vibes, December 10, 2023
