SARAWAKIANS have expressed anger and frustration following a viral video which shows a man who appears to be Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud's stepson, Nizar Taib eating a burger and then wiping his face with money.

The video of Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib's son’s alleged act was posted on the Annoyed Malaysian Twitter page from Sarawak Report's YouTube channel.

It shows a clip from TikTok account @nizar_swk where the person is seen eating a burger and then using a wad of money, which looked like Euros, to wipe his mouth.

The caption on the video posted on Annoyed Malaysian's Twitter read: "Reminder that Taib Mahmud's "bumiputera Melanau" stepson (Raghad's son) ate a burger on TikTok & wiped his mouth obnoxiously with cash that probably belongs to the people of Sarawak".

Netizens have since expressed their disgust and anger over the video which they say shows a blatant disregard for money.

"Many in Sarawak are in desperate need of simple necessities like food and medicine," said one netizen.

Others called for an end to corruption in the country, saying it is a national virus.

"Though I am not a Sarawakian, it hurts me terribly to see this," wrote another social media user.

Checks on TikTok however, revealed that the account @nizar_swk had since been removed.

The last few days have seen the couple (Taib and Raghad) frequently making top news.

It started with reports that Raghad allegedly showed up at the Normah Medical Specialist Centre at 11.56 pm last Saturday with her butler and bodyguard and took Taib away.

Following that, Raghad denied that she was trying to leave the country and that her main concern was the welfare of her husband and serving the people in Sarawak.

Yesterday, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata confirmed that the former state governor (Taib) is at Demak Jaya, his private residence in Petra Jaya, Kuching. - The Vibes, February 8, 2024
