POLICE have released two college students who were arrested in connection with a deadly attack last week on the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor .

They were released unconditionally, Johor police chief M. Kumar said.

FMT reported that the 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested to aid in the murder investigation but were released on orders from the Attorney-General's Chambers.

The two were arrested along with five family members of the shooter, Radin Romyullah Radin Imran. He was 34.

Radin hacked a policeman to death before shooting another officer in the head. A third policeman is recovering from a gunshot wound.

Radin was shot dead in the incident, which occurred about 2.45am on Friday, in what is believed to be a lone wolf attack.

Kumar said an investigation was ongoing into the suspect’s five relatives, whose remand detention will expire on Friday.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said it was believed the man was acting alone and not linked to a terrorist group. – May 22, 2024.
