FIRST term Sungai Bakap assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff passed away this afternoon after being admitted for a month at the intensive care unit of the Seberang Jaya Hospital.

The PAS ulama was admitted to the hospital due to inflammation in the stomach at the end of April.

Nor Zamri, who was the Nibong Tebal PAS chief, was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

Penang PAS secretary Iszuree Ibrahim confirmed in a brief statement of the PAS ulama's passing.

He died on the day the 15th state legislative assembly's first session had commenced earlier this morning.

Nor Zamri contested the seat in the state election last August and won against Pakatan Harapan’s Nurhidayah Che Rose with a majority of 1,563 votes.

With his demise, another state by-election is looming after the recent Kuala Kubu Baru by-election in Selangor earlier this month. - The Vibes. May 24, 2024.
