IGP denies reshuffle of top officers

BUKIT Aman has refuted a report by a news portal claiming that a major reshuffle will take place involving senior staff at the federal police headquarters with some being transferred out.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said the report was “false news” and urged the public to only refer to official sources on matters involving the country’s security forces.

“The police did not issue any official statement over the matter and we have contacted the news portal for clarification.

“However, they have refused to disclose their source that was cited in the report,” the IGP said in a statement.

Earlier, it was alleged that several senior officers, including Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, were among those expected to be transferred in the reshuffle.

Citing an anonymous police source, the portal said Ayob will head another agency under the Home Ministry, possibly the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) or the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency.

The report also claimed that Shuhaily will be heading the National Anti-Drugs Agency (Nada) as its next director-general.

The top positions at MMEA and Nada have been vacant since April. – August 6, 2024.
