GLOBAL Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd executive chairman and chief executive officer Nasiruddin Mohd Ali has been arrested, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

According to reports, the country’s top cop said the 65-year-old was among 19 people arrested following a raid on a complex along Jalan Imbi early this morning.

Razaruddin said others arrested in the raid included Nasiruddin's wife and two children.

"The raid was coordinated and carried out by Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department D8 (special operations), D14 (organised crime), and the special integrated investigation team at around 5.40am," he told the New Straits Times.

Last week, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department raided 20 charity homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan associated with GISB Holdings and rescued 402 children and teenagers, consisting of 201 boys and 201 girls aged from one to 17.

Razarudin had earlier said that health screening results for 392 children rescued from charity homes linked to GISBH during Ops Global have uncovered signs of both physical and emotional abuse among the victims.

He also said there were elements of child labour and exploitation, with those under 18 being forced to work by selling goods. - September 19, 2024
