PAKATAN Harapan Sarawak made up of DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah confirmed it will challenge the state ruling government of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in this coming state election due in 2026.

Sarawak PKR information chief Tay Wei Wei today, in confirming this, also announced that they will start a state election roadshow next month.

"We in Sarawak PKR and PH are Opposition parties in the state and we must offer a voice to the rakyat and be of service to them as a check and balance.

"Though PH and the state ruling government are partners at the federal level, we in Sarawak PH must uphold our responsibilities as the opposition in Sarawak for the sake of the rakyat," he said in a press statement.

Tay said Sarawak PKR had appointed PKR deputy chairman Ahmad Nazib as its State Elections Committee director.

"We are getting all our 31 PKR branches in the state to prepare for the coming state elections.

"We will be going to every branch soon, starting from the Lawas district next month.

"The branches have been instructed to update the latest voter roll and put up PKR and PH signs prominently,” said Tay.

Sarawak has 81 state constituencies, with 78 of them under the control of GPS, two held by DAP's Chong Chien Jen in Padungan and Violet Yong in Pending and one held by Independent See Chee How in Batu Lintang. - October 6, 2024
