A FOUR-year-old boy was critically injured after falling off the 12th floor of a condominium in Lebuh Tunku Kudin, Jelutong in Penang.

According to reports in the New Straits Times, the boy landed on the concrete ledge of the condo's seventh floor.

The incident took place at 9.20 am yesterday when the boy's grandmother realised that he was missing from the condominium unit.

Acting Northeast district police chief, Lee Swee Sake, said the woman, 63, was in the bathroom when the incident took place.

Preliminary checks suggested that the boy may have fallen out of the master bedroom window.

"Checks also showed that the bed was located near an open window. However, there were no witnesses," he said.

It is understood that the boy's grandmother found the boy on the seventh-floor ledge.

Lee said the boy is in critical condition and is being treated at the Penang Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect and exposing a child to injury. - October 27, 2024
