THE government has announced a toll exemption on all expressways nationwide for two days starting on October 29 2024. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi in a statement, said that the toll-free travel for Class 1 (private vehicles) would be implemented on all highways nationwide from 12.01 am tomorrow until 11.59 pm the following day.
The minister revealed that this initiative is anticipated to cost the government RM38 million, which will be compensated to toll concessionaires.
“This toll exemption is aligned with the Madani principles of well-being and compassion, providing financial relief and encouraging harmonious celebrations across Malaysia’s diverse communities,” he said.
The minister wished Malaysians a happy Deepavali and urged drivers to exercise caution, adhere to traffic rules, and take necessary breaks to ensure a safe journey. - October 28, 2024
