THE Perak Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) revealed that several parts of a dead tiger were stolen after the animal was run over by a lorry in Gerik, Perak, today.

According to reports in Sinar Harian, department director Yusoff Shariff said the tiger’s carcass was mutilated and its skin, fangs, claws and whiskers were missing.

“A police report has been lodged and we will work with the police to collect information and help track down the parties responsible,” he said.

Those found in possession of any of the animal’s parts would be punishable under the Wildlife Conservation Act and be fined up to RM1 million and 15 years in jail if convicted.

In the 5.30 am incident, a tiger was killed after it was run over by a lorry at KM 67.1 of the East-West Highway, headed towards Gerik from Jeli, Kelantan. - November 9, 2024
