SARAWAK DAP has retained its hardworking and vocal chairman Chong Chien Jen as state party chairman for the 2024-2027 term unopposed during its party convention in Kuching.

This means that the Padungan state assemblyman and MP for Stampin will lead Sarawak DAP into the coming state elections due by 2026.

Chong is also Sarawak Pakatan Harapan chairman.

"We are confident that we will be able to win more seats in the coming state election.

"We have proven ourselves to be the voice of ordinary Sarawakians and fought for their rights and interests.

"We are functioning as a check and balance in Sarawak to keep the state ruling government accountable for their policies, and to protect the rights of all in this state.

"We must win more seats so that we can give the rakyat in Sarawak a stronger voice," Chong said at the party convention gathering in Kuching.

He said when Sarawak DAP was stronger with numerous seats in the State Legislative Assembly in the 2000s and 2010s, the state government was more careful with how they made decisions and policies.

He said the party must thus work very hard to regain the lost seats.

Sarawak DAP has Chong and Violet Yong (Pending assemblywoman) in the 82 seat State Assembly now.
