SABAH Umno has urged Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and assemblymen implicated in corruption allegations to lodge a police report and sue the whistleblower to clear their names.
Its information chief, Datuk Suhaimi Nasir, said the state government must operate with integrity and remain free from slander or baseless accusations.
“These allegations not only tarnish the reputation of the Chief Minister and the Sabah Government but also undermine public trust in state institutions and investors.
“The truth must prevail, and the government must remain respected and trusted by the people,” said Suhaimi, who is also the Libaran MP.
He said Hajiji and the assemblymen involved must act decisively by lodging a police report and initiating legal action to send a clear message that false accusations will not be tolerated.
“Such decisive action is essential to ensure that the Sabah government continues to be respected and trusted by the people,” he added.
Suhaimi’s remarks come after Sabah Umno Youth chief Sufian Abd Karim called on Hajiji to step down as chief minister following allegations of corruption and abuse of power within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) administration.
The controversy deepened recently when a video surfaced implicating Sabah Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Hajiji’s close ally, in corruption involving mining licenses in the state.
A purported whistleblower released several videos alleging that GRS assemblymen accepted money in exchange for prospecting licenses.
A former CEO of a state government-linked company managing Sabah Minerals also accused Hajiji of abusing his power in the matter. - December 7, 2024
