A total of 1,024 villages and longhouses in Sarawak have obtained approval for micro-community development projects under the federal government's "Madani Sejati" programme.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf said RM 100 million has been set aside for these villages and longhouses throughout Sarawak.

Each village development committee will receive or has already received up to RM 100,000 each for community projects like vegetable farming, fish farming, animal breeding, homestay tourism programmes, cottage industries and the like that can boost the income and livelihood of these villagers, he said.

"Sarawak is already getting the approved funds from the Komuniti Sejatera Madani programme.

"The projects are meant to uplift the livelihood of the people in the respective villages and longhouses.

"The funds are meant to be used for the common good of the community to improve their income and to sustain them through the various industries and tourism activities.

“The Federal Government wants to see these funds put to good use," he said when visiting a village in Kuching recently.

Fadillah said the Madani Sejati projects are good platforms for the community to enhance their skills in micro-business ventures using federal funds directly from Putrajaya.

On Oct 18, it was reported that the 2025 National Budget will come with even more Madani Sejati project funding for poor communities living in kampungs and longhouses in Sarawak from the Yayasan Madani directly under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister Department.

These Madani Sejati projects come with a package of up to RM 100,000 for every village or longhouse.

The money is meant to be used to carry out micro-community projects like vegetable farming, livestock rearing, fish farming and the likes.

Sarawak Pakatan Harapan information chief Senator Abun Sui Anyit said the Madani Sejati funding will be swiftly approved by Yayasan Madani based on the needs of the respective communities.

He said Sarawak Pakatan parties of PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah will help the communities in the villages and longhouses apply for the Madani Sejati projects. - December 28, 2024
