Shafee tells court that royal addendum on house arrest exists
Shafee contended that it was not the applicant's (Najib) duty to surface the addendum, rather it was the duty of the public body to do so. - January 6, 2025

TAN Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has argued that the royal addendum on house arrest exists and that it was kept hidden until it surfaced on Dec 2 last year.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak's lead counsel said the alleged addendum order by the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong allowed Najib to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.

According to reports, Shafee in his submission said Najib's eldest son Datuk Nizar Najib had on Dec 2 received the document from the palace under the direction of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Shafee told the court that they must accept all additional evidence to be admitted into the appeal.

He contended that it was not the applicant's (Najib) duty to surface the addendum, rather it was the duty of the public body to do so.

He said Nizar received the document, which was a personal record of the Sultan of Pahang, explaining that this was why it did not bear the Sultan's signature.

Shafee submitted that the addendum surfaced after the Kuala Lumpur High Court dismissed Najib's house arrest judicial review in July last year. - January 6, 2025
