BUKIT Bendera member of parliament Syerleena Abdul Rashid today confirmed that she will not contest the upcoming DAP central executive committee (CEC) election next month.

“In recent days, I have received numerous inquiries and seen several media articles speculating about my potential candidacy for the Central Executive Committee (CEC). Following this, I would like to take this opportunity to address these speculations and provide clarity” said she said.

In a Facebook post, she said she would like to set the record straight — "These claims are not true. I want to officially clarify my position and put any confusion to rest.

“I am deeply honored and grateful for the trust and support I have received regarding my nomination for the CEC. It is truly humbling to be considered for such a significant role, and I deeply appreciate the confidence in my leadership abilities.

“However, after much thoughtful reflection, I have decided to respectfully decline the nomination. My heart and focus remain with the people of Bukit Bendera, and I am committed to continuing the important work we have begun together in Parliament.”

She added that she stands on an unwavering commitment to the party and its objectives.

"I have full confidence in our leadership, and I strongly believe in our collective mission to create a stronger, more unified future for the nation," she said, adding that she will continue to work closely with my fellow party members, contributing in whatever way I can to both the party’s growth and the welfare of the people we serve. – February 27, 2025
