PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the agenda to eradicate hardcore poverty remains his top priority in discussions with state government leaders and agencies

The Prime Minister is scheduled to chair the Special State Development Meeting with key state leaders and agencies soon after visiting states across the country to attend the MADANI Iftar events beginning next week, said Senior Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah today.

“Since this agenda was announced during the tabling of Budget 2023, he has mobilised all political secretaries to the states to ensure that efforts and assistance are systematically channeled to the hardcore poor group,” he said during the Prime Minister’s Office Daily Briefing which was streamed live on Anwar Ibrahim and PMO Malaysia’s Facebook pages this morning.

Tunku Nashrul said that the efforts include increasing the income of targeted groups, providing job opportunities, better access to education, healthcare, and housing, as well as improving the living standards and well-being of poor households, he said.

He added that, as of Dec 31 last year, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Perlis had successfully achieved zero hardcore poverty, and the Prime Minister is confident that this success will be extended to other states. – March 5, 2025
