Unity Minister issues stern warning to people involved in provocative actions

THE Ministry of National Unity has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in spreading provocative statements, insults, and disrespectful remarks concerning sensitive issues related to race, religion, and royalty (3R) on social media platforms.

Its minister said, in a statement, said: "I hereby issue a stern warning to all parties not to repeat irresponsible acts."

He urged the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take immediate action against individuals involved in disseminating irresponsible content.

Dagang highlighted that sections of the Penal Code, including Section 298, Section 504, Section 505, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, should be enforced to ensure the safety and harmony of the nation is preserved.

In addition, the Ministry of National Unity continues to promote the "Cakap Baik-Baik" campaign and is committed to fostering national integration through the principles of Understand, Respect, and Accept (Faham, Hormat, and Terima) in its programmes aimed at educating Malaysians to respect the religions and cultures of all.

"Irresponsible actions that lead to acts of insulting religion and racial sensitivities are a threat to the peace and harmony of the country," he said.

Aaron also reminded the people involved in spreading provocative and insulting statements against other religions to think about the adverse effects of their actions on the harmony of society in the country.

"Provocative action that do not respect the feelings of other religions and races can damage the harmony of our country," he said. – March 6, 2025
