GEORGE TOWN – Penang needs to explore more unique tourism products especially in Seberang Prai in order to position the state competitively for domestic tourism, said state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin.

He said Seberang Prai’s locations, including Penang Frog Hill and Air Hitam Dalam Educational Forest in Tasek Gelugor, are less known but have the potential to attract visitors to the district.

“The promotion of different tourism products will ensure that the economic benefits are distributed across various districts and communities in Penang, especially in Seberang Prai.

“With domestic tourism expected as the tourism industry’s main economic generator for the next six months to a year, ecotourism would be an important segment for domestic tourism as it varies depending on topography and environment,” Yeoh said in a statement here today.

“I also believe that we need unique products that can only be found here to boost Penang’s tourism.

“This way, we can ensure that tourists return as Penang is the only state with these attractions. We need to keep promoting different products,” he said. – Bernama, December 20, 2020
