A 14-YEAR-OLD male student from a school in Bukit Baru, Melaka, tragically passed away after participating in several hours of physical education activities yesterday.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said the incident occurred at around 10:30am during a break when the victim, a volleyball player, was walking toward the canteen.

He suddenly collapsed near the school’s field and lost consciousness.

He was immediately rushed to Melaka Hospital for emergency treatment, where medical personnel administered CPR for approximately 30 minutes. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the student was pronounced dead by doctors.

Patit stated, "Before the incident, the student had been attending volleyball practice in the morning. At this time, there is no indication of any criminal factors involved."

He added, "We are currently awaiting the results of the complete laboratory report to determine the exact cause of death. At this stage, the case has been classified as sudden death." - March 15, 2025
