THE Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple on Jalan Masjid India will be relocated to a new site about 50 metres from its current location.

MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the temple will be on a 4,000 sq. feet plot which will be gazetted under the name of the temple committee.

"I just had a meeting with Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Zaliha Mustafa; Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif and a few Members of Parliament.

"The meeting went very well, and we have also notified the temple committee of the decision.

"They (temple committee) are very happy with the settlement and the issue is now resolved," he said.

Saravanan also said that it was agreed that the current temple will continue to operate as usual till the entire relocation process is completed.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that he will officiate the groundbreaking ceremony of a mosque to be built on Jalan Masjid India, this Thursday.

"I will proceed to lay the foundation stone of the mosque on the 27th of this month (this Thursday),” he said. – March 25, 2025
