THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are conducting a thorough investigation into the circulation of a video that is said to promote communist ideology within the country.
The clip, which lasts 2 minutes and 57 seconds, began circulating on social media on Monday and claims the existence of an unregistered organisation called the "Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Unification of China in Malaysia" or "One China Unification Association."
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that the police are investigating both the organisation mentioned in the video and its allegations, which include the use of communist symbols and subversive elements.
He stressed that any attempt to undermine the sovereignty of the nation or spread ideologies that contradict the Federal Constitution would be dealt with firmly according to the law.
"We are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation into the organisation referred to in the video and the associated claims of unregistered activities, the use of communist symbols, and any subversive elements," Astro Awani cited Razarudin saying.
"Any attempts to destabilise the country or promote ideologies that are against the Constitution will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law."
The police are investigating the case under several legal provisions, including Section 41/43 of the Societies Act 1966, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (AKMM).
The investigation is being led by the Crime Investigation Department's Special Investigation Unit (USJT) under the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Division (JSJ).
Razarudin also urged the public not to be easily influenced by any statements, videos, or movements that may incite public unrest or threaten national harmony.
"The public is advised to report any suspicious activities directly to the authorities through official channels and refrain from spreading unverified content, as this can lead to misunderstandings and further exacerbate the situation," he added. – March 27, 2025
