AN UNDERCOVER operation by the authorities discovered a woman in her twenties posing as a dentist and carrying our illegal dental procedures at a premises in Taman Puchong Prima, Puchong, Selangor.

Reports in Harian Metro said the operation was jointly conducted by the Dental Health Division, Selangor State Health Department, and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), led by Dr Muhamad Syafiq Muhamad Isa.

They were assisted by the police.

The ‘dentist’ was reportedly carrying out such procedures for a long time.

Checks with the Companies Commission revealed that the suspect's business was registered for body piercing and eyelash extension services.

The operation was conducted following a tip-off that an individual was practising dentistry without proper registration under the Dental Act 2018.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect used dental tools and materials to mislead the public into believing she was qualified to perform dental procedures.

"The suspect was found to have violated Section 63(1)(d) of the Dental Act 2018, and if convicted, she can be penalised under Section 63(2) of the same Act," said Dr Muhamad Syafiq.

During the raid, the local female suspect was found performing dental treatment on a female client.

Dental equipment and materials believed to be used for performing veneer procedures were also discovered in the room.

The suspect failed to provide proof of registration with the Malaysian Dental Council, as well as a valid Annual Practising Certificate.

All items related to the unlawful services were confiscated, and a police report was filed at the Bukit Puchong Police Station. – April 8, 2025
