MCMC warned that stern action can be taken against any party that violates this regulation.

ANOTHER Chinese daily - Kwong Wah Yit Poh has been summoned by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over an alleged flag error on its official Facebook account.

In a statement, the MCMC said the daily has been asked for an explanation following reports from internet users lodged against it over the alleged gaffe.

"An investigation is being carried out under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, specifically Section 233, as the offence involves content that was uploaded online," the statement said.

MCMC views the matter seriously and will fully cooperate with the Home Ministry and the police in conducting further investigations into the issue if necessary and relevant.

It also issued a warning to all parties, whether media organisations or the general public, not to upload or disseminate content that mocks or depicts the Malaysian flag in an incomplete or improper manner.
