A PRIVATE dental clinic in Pontian has been ordered to close for 30 days after it was found to have hung the Jalur Gemilang upside down at its premises.
Four staff members are also currently under police investigation.
President of the Pontian Municipal Council (MPPn), Abd Azim Shamsuddin, said the closure notice was handed to the owner at 8.20am today.
He said checks found that the premises had violated the Pontian District Council (MDP) Business and Trade Licensing By-Laws (UUK) 2019 regarding the flying of the flag.
“Every premises licensed under the UUK is required to fly the Jalur Gemilang or the Johor state flag in the correct manner and method for a certain period, including in conjunction with Merdeka month.
“The closure action is made in accordance with UUK 49 (2) which empowers the President to close any premises that violates the conditions of the licence,” he said.
He said that the owner can submit a written appeal during the closure period, but further decisions are subject to the discretion of the MPPn President. – August 21, 2025
