A DRUG syndicate selling ganja-laced cookies online for RM90 per packet has been dismantled following the arrest of eight individuals during raids in Mont Kiara and Jalan Duta.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said five men and two women aged between 20 and 31 were apprehended during a 2.20am raid at a residential unit in Mont Kiara on April 16.
“During a search of a bedroom at the premises, police found three bags containing approximately 32kg of marijuana, along with 2kg of cannabis-infused cookies,” Sinar Harian quoted him saying at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters on Monday.
A second raid on April 18 led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man at a residence along Jalan Duta at 2.10pm. A search of his vehicle uncovered a box containing an estimated 7kg of cannabis cookies.
In total, police seized drugs worth around RM105,000.
Authorities also moved to forfeit assets, seizing RM120 in cash, a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle and three vehicles believed to be linked to the syndicate.
Rusdi said the group had been operating for about a year, sourcing cannabis from Thailand and distributing it throughout the Klang Valley via social media platforms, including Instagram.
“Initial urine tests showed five of the suspects tested positive for cannabis. Background checks revealed that two of them have prior criminal records,” he said.
All eight suspects have been remanded for seven days until Wednesday to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - April 21, 2025
